10X10 Winter Challenge

I should probably use ‘winter’ lightly considering it was in the high 80’s for half of the Winter 10×10 challenge.

This was my first time participating in a closet challenge and honestly, I’m not sure I would do it again. I know it was only 10 days long, but I struggled to get to the end. I like having all of my clothing available to me especially when the weather is so fickle! When I first chose my pieces, it was raining and in the low 60s. By the end of the challenge, it was 85 degrees. I also realized that I can’t be too creative while breastfeeding. Layering isn’t an option unless there is easy boob access, so my creativity was stifled. I may do another challenge when not breastfeeding 🙂

What I Learned

I joined this challenge with the hope I’d learn more about my style post Olivia. I learned that I like wearing fitted pieces, especially around the waist. My postpartum body is curvier than before (hello boobs and hips), so pieces that accentuate my waist make me feel more put together. I also learned that I prefer to tie my shirts at the waist instead of tucking them in, especially if they aren’t super fitted. Not revolutionary stuff, but at least I know an outfit formula that works, which is the point of these challenges, right?

Below are my 9 outfits from the challenge! I took a break halfway through the challenge to get my root canal done 🙂

Outfit 1

Top: Everlane Linen Button Down (similar)

Bottom: Sotela Lena Pant

Shoe: ABLE Mule (not originally in my 10 picks)

Although it is super comfortable, I’m not 100% sold on the outfit. I feel like it makes me look too much like a mom. Halfway through the challenge, I received the mules I ordered from Able. Hands down my favorite shoe right now. I replaced the boots with the mules for the challenge. It’s way too hot for socks and boots!

Outfit 2

Top: Everlane Pima Long Sleeve

Bottom: Sotela Ryan Trouser

Shoe: Nisolo Oxfords

I call this my boss outfit. It’s comfortable and easy, but also put together with the tapered trousers and oxfords. I’m sure a blazer would’ve elevated this look this even more!

Outfit 3

Top: Everlane Striped tee

Bottom: Sotela Lena Pant

Shoe: ABLE Mule

I could wear this outfit from day to night and by night I mean to bed. The Lena pants are like chic sweatpants because of the buttery soft fabric and wide leg and these mules are like wearing slippers. Pjs all day long is my motto at the moment 🙂

Outfit 4

Top: Everlane Cashmere Sweater

Bottom: Stella Jumpsuit

Shoe: Nisolo Oxfords

I wore this outfit on the one ‘cold’ day of the winter challenge. The Stella jumpsuit can be tied to the front and worn like drawstring pants. It makes breast-feeding a tad harder, but still totally doable.

Outfit 5

Dress: Heather Dress

Shoe: ABLE Mule

I would’ve worn this dress more if I had these mules from the beginning! The booties I chose for this challenge were the only shoe that looked good with the dress, but since it was hot, I didn’t want to wear them. I really love this outfit. It’s as easy as they come.

Outfit 6

Top: Everlane Pima Long Sleeve

Bottom: Sotela Lena Pant

Shoe: ABLE Mule

Another pajama outfit! Easy peasy and very comfortable. I’m not sure how much I love the shirt tucked in, but it works!

Outfit 7

Top: Everlane Striped tee

Bottom: Sotela Ryan Trouser

Shoe: ABLE Mule

This is my go-to outfit right now! I love the Ryan trouser in marsh because it adds color to my closet and is a great neutral.

Outfits 8 & 9

Bottom: Stella Jumpsuit

Shoe: Nisolo Oxfords

It’s hard choosing a favorite piece from the Live Collection, but it may just be this jumpsuit. It feels like such an elevated basic that can be dressed up or down. It goes well with ANY shoe and can honestly be worn for different occasions. I wore it for my #treatyoself spa day and it was the perfect thing to throw on after a facial when you just want to wear a robe.

Outfit Extras

These two outfits didn’t make it into the challenge because of the weather, but I thought it would be fun to  style anyways.

I never thought I’d like jersey on jersey, but I think the Heather dress is different enough to make this outfit work.

Again, I feel like a mom in this outfit, but hey if the shoe fits, right? Maybe I’m just not used to wearing button down shirts. Anyway, this is a good outfit for spring weather.

Did you do the Winter 10×10 challenge? Would you do it again?
