25 Fun Facts for My 25th Birthday

25 fun facts about me 1

Since today is my birthday (!!!!) I thought it would be different to share 25 fun facts about me.

  1. I thought I was born in Peru until I was 8 years old. My mom broke the news to me while in the car and I remember crying and feeling like my whole world was shattered.
  2. I am half Peruvian and half Russian. I used to speak Russian when I was little, but unfortunately lost most of it. I do know how to count through 100 though!
  3. My first language was Spanish.
  4. I had to do hooked on phonics in elementary school because I had a terrible stutter.
  5. I used to be obsessed with Sailor Moon. I’ve had dreams that I was Sailor Moon restoring love and justice to the world.
  6. I danced in my school’s talent show in the 5th grade with my best friend to N’Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye.” I also did the robot and thought it was pretty cool.
  7. I used to sleepwalk a lot. I haven’t in a while, but in high school I woke up in the middle of the night and picked up a black object from the floor and went to my sister’s room. I stood above her bed and told her Zorro (our black Pomeranian) wasn’t breathing. She woke up terrified and told me it was a sweater. I just said, “okay” and went back to sleep.
  8. In elementary school, I used to give myself pep talks in front of the mirror saying, “You can do it, Hanna!” If only I could remember why…
  9. I used to cut my fries in half because I thought it meant there were more. I’ve also tackled a kid that was younger than me for taking my fries.
  10. I have a love affair with ketchup. I will not eat fries without ketchup and have brought my own bottle to a restaurant because I didn’t like how theirs tasted.
  11. While kayaking with my mom in Florida, I jumped out without telling her because our kayak was going to hit a boat. Yes, I suck.
  12. I broke up with a boy in the 7th grade because he tried to hold my hand.
  13. I used to be a behavioral therapist for autistic children and sometimes miss working with kids.
  14. I danced ballet for 5 years and Peruvian folklore for 7 years.
  15. My best friend pushed me off the monkey bars in the 6th grade resulting in a fractured arm. She told me it was her 4 years ago.
  16. I’ve done 2 triathlons and 2 mud runs. I am currently training for the LA marathon in the spring.
  17. Last year, I planned a wedding, looked for a full time job, searched for a house and completed my master’s degree. On the Monday before the wedding, I got the job and the keys to our house.
  18. J is 11 ½ years older than me, but most people don’t even know because he looks so young. The ½ is very important (haha).
  19. I met J at a UCLA tailgate on a Saturday and by Thursday we went on our first date. He asked me to be his girlfriend because we knew we would marry each other and there was no point in waiting.
  20. I don’t know when I started having an irrational fear of fish, but I get weirded out seeing fish in tanks or the ocean.
  21. For the first 13 years of my life, I worked at my mom’s insurance office and my dad’s boot store. I will eventually have a business of my own.
  22. I dropped out of art class in high school and transferred to drama because art and anything creative scared me. Starting this blog was a huge step for me because creativity isn’t my strong suit, but I sure do love it.
  23. I bought makeup for the first time last December. I used to only wear eyeliner and they were always hand me downs from my sister.
  24. Most mornings I wake up with a new song in my head.
  25. The only contest I’ve ever won in my life was a coloring contest at Mcdonald’s. I’m pretty sure my sister did it for me because I was terrible at coloring. I won an Easter basket.

Thanks so much, Stephanie!! My mother-in-law made my skirt based off of Cotton & Curl’s tulle skirt tutorial. It is so much cheaper than buying too! I paid about $20 for the fabric 🙂
