I have been a fan of Valentine’s Day ever since my mom would surprise me and my sister with stuffed animals and balloons outside our bedroom doors. It was so sweet of her to do, but I think it is safe to say she is the reason why I have high expectations with these holidays (ha!). I’m not gonna lie, but I LOVE surprises. It can be big or small and I am one happy camper. Last Valentine’s Day, the hubs surprised me and my sister with In-N-out and flowers and I was ecstatic.
Anyway, here are 5 Valentine’s Day Ideas !
With all the crowds at restaurants on Valentine’s Day, eating out could feel stressful. Cooking a meal at home is comfortable yet delicious. You can try making tapas (Spanish appetizers) with wine or pizza and beer! There are so many easy options, especially if you don’t want to cook a big meal.
2. An ‘I love you because’ jar
Valentine’s Day is a great time to show someone how much you love him/her. Write at least 10 notes of why you love the other person. They can be big or small such as, “I love you because you washed the dishes last night.”
3. Make a fort
Couple of years ago, my brother-in-law surprised his wife with a fort in her living room and I thought it was absolutely adorable. Lighten up the space with candles and watch a movie to make the night more romantic. Tapping into our inner child should be a requirement on a weekly basis.
4. Wine Tasting
Since Valentine’s Day is on a Friday this year, why not invite friends over and drink wine while making a difference in your community? ONEHOPE wine is an amazing social enterprise that donates half of the profits of every bottle sold to partner causes. Through their Hope at Home program, they will go to your home and do the wine tasting for you. Talk. About. Amazing.
5. Take a trip down memory lane
Visit a place you went with your significant other that brings back great memories. It could be where you first met or had your first date. It’s always nice to remember how things started, especially if it has been several years.
The hubs and I are going to celebrate Valentine’s Day by having lunch at the restaurant where we had our first date. I am so excited because even though it has been couple of years I still remember how nervous I was sitting across from him eating my fish and chips while he just ate clam chowder. Apparently I wasn’t nervous enough to eat a full meal on our first date.
