These past two months have been interesting, to say the least. We hired a new team, released a collection amidst a global pandemic, and started working from home. We are finally getting into the groove of this new normal with our team.
In early March, I put out a job posting for a sewist and pattern cutter. We are a team of three, myself included, so that meant I had to replace two-thirds of Sotela. It was a stressful time, but we managed to get through it!
Manuel, our full-time sewist, left Sotela to be with his family last month. Fortunately, we found someone new and she has been working with us for almost a month. We’ll do an introduction once we are all back at the studio together! Our pattern-cutter, Becca, started her maternity leave early once Los Angeles enacted its safer at home order. We are still looking for a part-time pattern-cutter because Becca will be moving back home to be with family this summer. At the moment, we have a temporary replacement that is helping us out during these times, but we hope to have a new pattern-cutter by summertime.
We’ve navigated working through this time by staggering our schedules and spending half our time at home. There is only one person in the studio at a time, which also means we are slower to fulfill orders.
Thankfully, we are still maintaining the 2-3 week lead time. If your order takes more than 3 weeks to fulfill, we’ll reach out and let you know its ETA.
I wish I could personally thank you all for supporting us during these times. We honestly wouldn’t be here without you.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
