Behind the Scenes

What to Expect from the Vida Collection

We are less than a week away from the Vida Collection and I’m so proud and excited to share it with you. Every collection we release is unique in some way and this one is no different.

Earlier this year, I found inspiration from other clothing brands that featured voluminous designs and soft curves. I wanted a contrast to the straight lines our garments typically contain. The fabrics we chose influenced our designs because they are heavier for the colder season, but still light enough to wear year-round. We want to always maintain versatile designs that are easy to layer and can be worn for any occasion.

We named this fall/winter collection vida because it means life in Spanish. The garments in this collection can truly be worn to any event because they are classic, timeless, and will last over the years. These new pieces will be your best friends this holiday season, to work, to weddings, and weekend errands. This collection is built to work with your lifestyle.

Our design process revolved around embracing volume while still providing functionality and versatility. Straying away from straight lines in our designs added a romantic and elegant element to our collection.

The Vida Collection has several new designs that feature dramatic sleeves with subtle ruching at the shoulder and elastic cuffs. Two of our garments have a balloon sleeve while our new jumpsuit has a statement sleeve.

The Ryan trouser, Lena Pant, and Stella Jumpsuit will continue to be on the site, but with slight updates. Both the Ryan and Lena were widened at the hip for consistency among our sizes.  The Stella Jumpsuit will now be offered in both short and long sleeve.

Our fabric offering will get a slight facelift as well. We are introducing a heavier Tencel from a new supplier that is easier to maintain and wash. With that being said, they are more expensive than our previous Tencels. Since we custom-dyed and imported the fabric, we’ve had to pay more in duties (Thanks, Trump) to receive these fabrics, which made the overall cost higher than before. That leads me to the cost of our garments in this collection. We will be raising our prices slightly to reflect our fabric cost.

In addition to our well-loved Tencel, we are introducing three new fabrics including a recycled hemp/organic cotton blend, surplus corduroy, and cupro in limited amounts. These are seasonal additions in limited quantities!

We chose bold colors for fall that are elegant, but also modern. A deep red and true navy will be joining the lineup as well as black.

When we started designing for fall, we didn’t have any preconceived notions for our fabric selection. We asked via Instagram what colors you were interested in and I received so many votes for red. After seeing a beautiful deep red at the deadstock fabric location in Los Angeles, I knew that would be the first color selection. From there, we chose colors that complimented each other.

If bold isn’t your preference, there are plenty of neutral options as well including navy, black, grey, and camel.

We have something for everyone and every occasion. I hope you love this collection as much as I do. See you on Tuesday when we launch the VIDA Collection.

P.s. Monday night is the last time you can buy the Sol Collection garments! Grab what you’d like before we retire this collection for good.
