Eco-Conscious Living Tips

Zero Plastic Baby Essentials

Just for the record, this post isn’t for me (not pregnant!), but for all the mothers who want to decrease the amount of plastic and other disposables in their lives. After this post several weeks ago, my sister-in-law asked if I knew of any non-plastic baby gear for her son. Not only can plastic be harmful to our health, but it also has detrimental effects on our environment.

Since I don’t have children, I don’t know how well these products work, but at least these items can give you an idea as to what is out there.

Kleen Kanteen Baby Bottles:  These bottles can be found on Life Without Plastic or Amazon as well as the silicone nipple.

Sippy Bottle Cap: Also found on Amazon.

Kleen Kanteen Sports Bottle: The sippy bottle cap also fits any Kleen Kanteen bottle including this 12 oz. water bottle.

3 Piece Stainless Steel Dish Set: This dish set can be great for toddlers and adults because it is indestructible and will last forever.

Eco Vessel Gobble ‘n’ Go Stainless Steel Snack Cup: A cute non-plastic bowl that can be used for snacks or food.

Glass Bent Straw: Even though this straw is made of glass, it is made of the strongest glass commercially available. It can be used with any cup or mug.

Thirsties Cloth Diapers: Thirsties diapers was recommended by a friend who uses them for her 4 month old son. These cloth diapers are made in the USA by work at home mothers and are free of toxins found in regular diapers such as PVC (vinyl), phthalates and lead.

Reusable Wet Bag: This wet bag is to store your used cloth diapers prior to washing. You can wash your soiled diapers with the bag in your washing machine.

Cloth Wipes: Reusable cloth wipes that have a cotton velour side and a microfiber side. According to Thirsties, you will save $450 on these wipes in comparison to buying disposable ones.

Love the Klean kanteens and recommend them to all my friends. Just an FYI, the bottles are not interchangable with the sippy cup lids. So after they grow out of the bottle it is pretty much out of commission. The “sippy cups” do fit both the sippy lids and the “adult” sports caps though, so they can stay in those for life 😉
